Of the 3 documents we're working
on updating, the shortest one is the
only one that the AULs sign off on,
and it's also the only one with deadlines -
in force for 5 years; best if we have it
start at beginning of new fiscal (July 1).
It seems to me that this document is like
bylaws in that it gives a broad outline of
work to be done, while the intro to the
conspectus and the conspectus itself are
where we state details.
So I'd suggest we not make any
content changes to this document
but instead make changes in the conspectus
and intro, where of course we need to get
these matching reality in a timely fashion,
but we don't have a July 1, 2007, deadline
to get all that done.
There are a couple of minor editorial
points I'd like to make sure are correct/we agree on.
(I promise, I'll rename the document something
sensible after I get answers from you and input
changes from your answers.)
1. Names of AULs:
Have I got the correct name and title for your AUL/collections?.
2. 2d paragraph refers to a UC collections
document, so I thought I'd at least look it
up on the Web and perhaps then we could
include URL. Embarrassingly enough, the only
major lead to this I got is a copy on the SUL web
http://www-sul.stanford.edu/depts/hasrg/latinam/calafia/guidelines.html
Does anyone have a UC libraries URL for it?
or should I leave document phrasing as is, with no URL
or date for the "Brief Guidelines ..." document?
3. At end of document, there's a statement about
"Phyllis Mirsky, CDC liaison to the Stanford/UC Map
and Cartographic Librarians." In our last minutes,
it's noted that Gail Yokote (AUL for Research Services
and Collections at UC Davis), is the new representative
for our group to CDL’s Joint Steering Committee (JSC).
- Is Phyllis still our CDC Liaison?
- and may I please change phrase at end of sentence
to "UC/Stanford Map Librarians Group"?
4. Changes in wording that I've made:
- 2d paragraph, end of last sentence:
From "by the Collection Development Committee." to
"by the Collection Development Committee of the UC Libraries."
- 1., end of sentence: from "can be altered ..."
to "may be altered ..."
