UCI keeps this atlas in a map case where it lays on its side and it does
not circulate.

The atlas contains many foldout maps which have become curled/crumpled/mangled/torn. How do you protect your volumes? Do you keep them in a locked location? Do they circulate? Are they inan open access area but not circulating? Any advice would be useful.
