    Hello,

    A graduate student at UCR is looking for a map of the Pondicherry
    (Pondichery, Pondicheri) India region which is south of Madras. She is a
    history student and wants a map from around 1838. Her real question seems
    to be, "where is the suburb of Pondichery which used to be called
    Tireauventi." She has already talked to reference librarians in the Rivera
    Library. It looks like there are many places today that begin with Tiru.
    The best I can do is to find a map of Environs de Pondichery in the Atlas
    Colonial Francais, dated 1931.

     

    Any ideas?
