    Hi, folks -

I WISH I'd seen this discussion before I was at the UW in Seattle last
    week!

Because the Seattle and Atlanta areas both had two bond elections about
building rapid transit systems in the late 1960s, I thought that would
be an interesting dissertation topic and did look at the things that
were similiar and different in the four elections. Y'all know that
Atlanta has had the MARTA system running for about 20-25 years and
Seattle now has traffic constipation on its major highways as well as
    the surface streets.

About a month ago, I started getting calls and emails about my
dissertation topic and found out that Seattle has another such election
coming up next year. So, I figured I'd better revisit my dissertation.
My copy is at my place in Florida and the copy I ordered from University
Microfilms (now ProQuest) has abysmal copies of my maps. So, while I
was in The Frozen North, I carried my scanner and computer into the Suzz
and scanned all the maps in. The Atlanta maps are all about 11x11 and
folded, so guess what wouldn't fit on my scanner's glass and wound up
having to be scanned in two pieces.

Fortunately, the stitching software that comes with CorelDraw! gave me
11x11 pictures and my big HP1120 printer reproduced them just fine.

Now, if we could just get ProQuest to use a good scanner going forward! ;-(
